Two journalists working for a Christian magazine were hacked to death by a mob in a predominantly Muslim suburb in the flashpoint Nigerian city of Jos, a union official said Monday. Nathan Dabak, deputy editor of the bimonthly Light Bearer and reporter Sunday Gyang Bwede, were pulled from a motorcycle and killed on Saturday evening as youths rioted in the aftermath of the death of a Muslim teen.

The toll from yesterday’s attack is three destroyed cars and several buildings damaged or burnt. Two bombs exploded minutes apart Sunday near buses carrying Christian students in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, killing at least one bystander and injuring around 100 others, a security official said. Sunni Muslim insurgents have frequently targeted members of Iraq’s Christian minority, especially in Mosul, which is home to a large Christian community.
